Because we use materials that will not endanger wine or humans once placed in a chilled environment. Did you know glass is permeable? Certain woods, finishes, paints, etc. can taint the wine. When placed in a closed loop system like a wine chiller you could enclose all the off-gassing from the wine rack materials. Our racks use a food-safe water based finish on our racks so as to not taint the wine. The photo above is a chilled giant wall of wine racks combining 1.5 liter and 750 ml wine racks.
